No Habla Espanol

A friend on Facebook was asking why she has to push 1 for English. I replied that was probably due to Obama saying the Mexicans were here first. It was a joke, but it stirred up the following ignorant reply. Liberals. Brother.

“…because so many people in this country are Euro-Centric and refuse to learn about the true history of this country, those who really *were* here first (and sorry, but it wasn’t white Europeans–and anyone with a brain knows not to blame that on our president!!), and the fact that we need to cooperate with others. This a a GLOBAL society we live in, and that can’t be argued. Don’t you know of anyone who moved to non-English speaking countries and were still able to get by on their English, because the rest of the world is forced to learn it?? I’m SURE you had to take multiple semesters of a foreign language in college, didn’t you?? Those who are educated appreciate TRUE DIVERSITY. We’re ignorant snobs if we don’t, plain and simple. This country is NOT a melting pot; it is a tossed salad. If people don’t like diversity, which this country was indeed founded on (ie, religious diversity–and remember, Jefferson wasn’t even a Christian), perhaps they should move to a place where whites didn’t take over everything, forcing indigenous people out of THEIR land. There’s nothing I’ve said that can be argued with, so I’m not going to, in the event someone tries to attack me. But honestly, I’d rather live with a bunch of people who WANT to be in this country, and have given it their all to get here, than people who were born here who clearly have little to no respect of its history and ridiculously blame non-whites for every problem we’ve got.”

  3. LOL! Thanks for my early-morning chuckle :)

But of course I have to add some Jeffersonian quotes:

“ The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man.”

“Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have come under my observation, none appears to me so pure as that of Jesus.”

“I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus.”

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

  5. Crazy isn’t it? The funny thing is, the Mexicans aren’t indigenous to Mexico. Aren’t they the descendants of the Spanish Conquistadors who conquered the Incas and the Aztecs?

  6. And yes, Jefferson was most definitely a Christian.
