Another Michigan Company Goes To Mexico

Posted in Governor Jennifer Granholm, Mexico, Michigan by Wade Moline on February 28, 2009

Rowe International Corporation of Grand Rapids has announced that it will close it’s Grand Rapids doors and move to Mexico. The maker of juke boxes told employees the change will take place in August. About 100 employees will lose their jobs, unless they want to transfer to Mexico of course. Some sales, accounting, and engineering jobs will remain in Grand Rapids, but the entire production line will be in Mexico. Must be they couldn’t find enough Mexicans that can do engineering, books, and sales?

The 100 year old company began making juke boxes in 1909, first in Chicago for a year, then in Grand Rapids. According to Vice President of sales John Margold, “The downturn in the economy became too much, and we’d done all we could do to keep the company viable here.”

So, moving to Mexico is going to make more people buy juke boxes in the US? That is what the Big 3 automakers thought when they closed factories in Michigan and moved production to Mexico. Cheaper labor does not make for cheaper prices for the consumer, the ones who buy the product. It never has. So people won’t buy more, especially in this economy, just because they move to Mexico.

So Jennifer, where are your incentives to keep Rowe in Grand Rapids? Oh wait, that is only reserved for the BIG companies. Screw the little guy.

Michigan News

Posted in Barack Obama, Delphi, Detroit, Flint Michigan, Ford, Governor Jennifer Granholm by Wade Moline on February 25, 2009

GM announced yesterday that it will build the Volt engine in Flint, but it will not build a new plant. Instead the engine will be built at the Flint Engine South Plant. Not totally bad news there. At least Flint will get the engine and not Mexico. Flint contractors are disappointed, but this seems to be a financially sound idea. Why build a plant and waste the money if you already have the room to build. We are griping about GM’s spending habits and here we have sound fiscal responsibility, for once. And I am glad I was wrong about predicting the engine wouldn’t be built in Flint or the US at all.

In the bad news, a federal judge will allow Delphi to cut health insurance and benefits for 15,000 retirees. While this sounds like good business financial practice, that is 15,000 people who will have no money to spend and put back into the economy and no health coverage for when they get sick. Meaning if they get something bad like cancer, they will die because they won’t be able to afford treatment. As Obama touts we need to spend to boost the economy and provide health care for the uninsured, 15,000 more will not be part of that.

At Ford, Alan Mulally and Bill Ford, Jr. are taking 30 percent pay cuts. Ooh, now that is a huge sacrifice for them I am sure. They will still be paid plenty more than their workforce whom they want to take cuts too, cuts that would cost the workers thousands of dollar in their wages annually along with cost of living adjustments eliminated, and certain bonuses like performance bonuses. Can’t cry over the Christmas bonus getting cut or the paid Easter Monday Holiday (what the heck), or the great waste known as the jobs bank where workers get paid to not work. All not so bad, but still not all good.

Meanwhile in Detroit, it will be Bing versus Cockrel for mayor. While there are 5 other candidates, Bing and Cockrel are the only two with a chance at the position that will allow them to either turn the city around or continue it down it’s current spiral into an abyss of financial ruin. The Motor City needs a good mayor AND city council that will not have the reputation given to it by former Thug Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Things look up and down for Michigan, but mostly down right now, especially with Jennifer Granholm at the wheel, and LG Cherry wanting her job when her term limit runs out. Cherry wants to continue the status quo of Granholm which is tax and spend and no fiscal responsibility.

And speaking of Granholm, she has another bright idea that is supposed to bring 109,000 jobs to Michigan via the stimulus package of Barack Obama. Allegedly, $66 Million dollars will be spent to upgrade the water systems of 16 Michigan cities. That averages out to 6,813 jobs per city. What? Among those cities is Howell, where the announcement was made. Howell has a population of just under 10,000 people, 9,777 at the last census. Does this look to make any sense? Other similar communities would receive the same money for water line upgrades. But 109,000 jobs? Really, I don’t think so. I cannot think of one job creation scheme Granholm has had that has brought anywhere near the jobs she said they would. Look at the big Google flop.

Granholm has to go and Cherry cannot take her place. The continuing ineptitude of our Governor is killing this state. The LG, John Cherry, would only continue the same spiral the State of Michigan is in.

Oh, let us not forget Cobo in Detroit and the voter turn out, Right Michigan and BlogProf have the stories well in hand – Racism in Detroit: Cutting off your whole freaking head to spite your face, Earth to City Council: Take the Cobo deal! Council to Earth: No Thanks!

More Infusing Our Education With Liberal Brainwashing?

Posted in Barack Obama, liberalism by Wade Moline on February 22, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Obama wants to do more than save teachers’ jobs or renovate classrooms with his economic recovery bill. He wants to transform the federal government’s role in education.
Public schools will get an unprecedented amount of money — double the education budget under George W. Bush — from the stimulus bill in the next two years. With those dollars, Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan want schools to do better.

I’m all for improving our education system, but not Obama’s way. I’m sure that liberal brainwashing and revised history will be par for the course if Obama gets his way. Scary.

This is sick. We are a society, a culture, commiting suicide. The naive liberal, sesame-street like, thinking that we are all good and that eventually all cultures and beliefs converge if only we are more tolerant and political correct is totally crazy. Sharia law is INCOMPATIBLE with our system of law justice as well as culture. Being inclusive does not always work – if you tempt the devil, you are right, the devil will strike you!

No, only white heterosexual males may be charged with “hate crimes”. Everyone else is to be “understood”.

Val Kilmer is an Idiot

Posted in Hollywood, liberals by Wade Moline on February 9, 2009

Veterans of Vietnam, Val Kilmer thinks you are all trash;

[Klosterman]: You mean you think you literally had the same experience as Doc Holliday? Kilmer: Oh, sure. It’s not like I believed that I shot somebody, but I absolutely know what it feels like to pull the trigger and take someone’s life.

[Klosterman:] You understand how it feels to shoot someone as much as a person who has actually committed a murder?

[Kilmer] I understand it more. It’s an actor’s job. A guy who’s lived through the horror of Vietnam has not spent his life preparing his mind for it. He’s some punk. Most guys were borderline criminal or poor, and that’s why they got sent to Vietnam. It was all the poor, wretched kids who got beat up by their dads, guys who didn’t get on the football team, couldn’t finagle a scholarship. They didn’t have the emotional equipment to handle that experience. But this is what an actor trains to do. I can more effectively represent that kid in Vietnam than a guy who was there.

The story is here – Governor Val Kilmer? Oh Yeah, He’s Also a Major Douche

Val Kilmer makes me wanna throw up. I’d like to see this piece of trash stand up to a Vietnam vet and say that to his face, especially someone from special forces. All living veterans of all wars should be angry and boycott anything regarding Val Kilmer. Unbelievable. Does he not realize that many Vietnam vets were drafted and had no choice and came from good, normal, and traditional American homes, many of which were well to do?

This is why I don’t go to the movies anymore. I’ll rent a dvd and watch a movie by quality actors who respect America and her WARRIORS who defend us and our rights.

VAL KILMER, YOU ARE TRASH. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE A GOVERNOR OF THIS COUNTRY OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF LEADER. GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE THAT YOU PUT YOURSELF ON YOU MAGGOT.

Talk To Your Wife, She May Be Dreaming of Sex With Obama

So, the New York Times and it’s “journalists” are going the supermarket tabloid way. Read on and barf. This is what passes for news these days. What is this country coming to?

Sometimes a President Is Just a President

In case you can’t read the whole thing here is an excerpt:

Many women — not too surprisingly — were dreaming about sex with the president. In these dreams, the women replaced Michelle with greater or lesser guilt or, in the case of a 62-year-old woman in North Florida, whose dream was reported to me by her daughter, found a fully above-board solution: “Michelle had divorced Barack because he had become ‘too much of a star.’ He then married my mother, who was oh so proud to be the first lady,” the daughter wrote me.
