GM Screws Michigan Again, No Lube Used According to Reports
GM has announced that they will NOT be building the Volt motor plant in Flint, Michigan and will NOT be bringing those 300 jobs here. They state that the reason is they just don’t have the money. They don’t? They were given money AND tax breaks last year by the State of Michigan for the specific purpose of creating new jobs and a new plant. GM also says they don’t know exactly when or where the Volt engine will be built, but it WILL be built in Flint. In a post last year (GM to lay off 1,200 in metro Detroit, 1,600 total) I predicted that GM would take the money and run and not really build the Volt engine here. It appears I was right (see also General Motors – Investing in Michigan and the US as long as…).
Time and again General Motors has taken money and received tax breaks from Michigan in the guise of staying in Michigan and bringing or keeping jobs here. Time and again General Motors has broken that promise and taken the money and run. Here they are doing it again, and Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and the Michigan State Legislature have nothing to say. They aren’t going after GM and demanding that they either give them the people’s money back or make good on their promise of jobs. No. That is not going to happen. They are too cowardly to stand up to GM and fight for Michigan jobs or fight for that money back. Instead, they will let it slide as they always do whenever GM cries and says that times are just too hard and we just don’t have the money.
They don’t? Both the State of Michigan and the federal government have given them hundreds of millions of dollars. So where did that money go. Where is the accountability? Hey, just who the heck is in charge here? WTF?
I am an angry Michigan native. I do not like to use bad language on a public website, I do not like to use bad language at all, but I am totally pissed off at GM, the State of Michigan, the UAW, and the federal government. What gives? Are our legislatures so inept and so stupid that they just cannot see that they are literally throwing away their constituent’s money when they give it away to GM? Are they really so simpleminded that they can’t see that constantly giving GM money is a fatuous thing to keep doing all the time?
I fear that this is going to be a constant thing with our bungling state officials, this giving away of money with absolutely no return. This is why I am against bailing out the Big 3, no one wants to hold them accountable for the money they give them. So far they haven’t held the Big Three accountable for the money they already have received and the Big 3 want more handouts all the time.
This is what we are getting from our state and federal legislatures, a lot of spending with no return and no accountability. There is also no accountability of our legislators who do these inane things. With the Democrats in power over Michigan and the country there will continue to be no accountability of our no account elected officials. In the Democrat’s eyes they themselves can do no wrong. Everything is right, everything is for the right cause, and all we have to do is take the taxpayer’s money and throw it at the problem without solution and everything will be just fine. If things don’t become fine, Gov. Granholm can fall back on the worn out excuse of, it is former Michigan governor John Engler’s fault, and Barack Obama can fall back on the old, George Bush is at fault excuse.
What a fun four years ahead of us.
Weather Channel Promotes Global Warming Hype via iPhone App
I got up this morning and went to check the weather on my iPhone with The Weather Channel’s iPhone app. There was a severe weather alert that said ICE STORM. I clicked on that and instead of getting a warning, I got propaganda about how the 2008 hurricane season was the all time worst hurricane season on record, worst since 2004, and how many people were killed, etc., so on and so forth.
So, this is how they get you to read their propaganda, by giving the reader a false severe weather alert. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a mistake. But that was at 8:00 am EST, and now it is 5:30 pm EST and the same propaganda is still there disguised as a severe weather alert.
I would think that there is some FCC violation there, disguising weather history (propaganda) as a severe weather alert. If this keeps up, people like me will ignore the alerts or delete the apps altogether. This is not what severe weather alerts are intended for. Ike was a big hurricane that wreaked a lot of damage, but the entire 2008 hurricane season was not like that as they are trying to imply in the article. According to them, hurricane after hurricane, after hurricane (all category 3 or higher) pummeled the US for five months straight out of the six month hurricane season as well as tropical cyclone after tropical cyclone after tropical cyclone. Wow. What devastation must have been wrought all across the US. The reason they say for all this activity? Warmer than normal temperatures and the lingering effects of La Nina wind shears, even though the La Nina wind shears stopped in June, 2008.

Apple Becomes Big Brother With Censorship, But Remains Hypocritical
Apple, Inc. has become Big Bother with its censorship of “dirty” words in books sold through its App Store which can be read on an iPhone or iPod Touch. I have to admit that I am an Apple fanboy (using Macs since ‘87), but this and Apple supporting the failed attempted defeat of California’s Proposition 8 late last year have me concerned that from my conservative standpoint, the Apple is losing its shine.
First and foremost Apple is a computer and software company. Apple also makes digital music players (the iPod line), phones (the drool worthy iPhone), and entertainment systems (Apple TV). They have no business (like most businesses don’t, but do) telling people what lifestyles are acceptable, and what words are acceptable. They need to stick to what they do best, and that is not politics.
The latest fiasco revolves around a book called Knife Music by David Carnoy. It has some instances of the “f” word in it. Mr. Carnoy submitted the book as an e-book to be sold on the App Store. Not until the “f” word was removed would Apple approve it. Mr. Carnoy obliged, the “f’” words were removed and Apple approved the book for sale on the App Store.
Nice. So now Apple wants to become Big Brother, which is ironic considering their 1984 Super Bowl commercial, a parody of George Orwell’s book 1984, which introduced the Macintosh and the Mac OS to the world. Apple is now telling us what is acceptable and what is not. That is not good. That is not good for any company selling us a service to tell us what is acceptable and what is not. We are the consumer, we tell the companies what we want. If they can’t or won’t provide that service, we go elsewhere. Censorship by government is bad enough, but it gets really bad when corporations try the same based on their “philosophy”, or rather the philosophy of the CEO.
Steve Jobs has vision, vision in regards to computers and gadgets etc., but his life vision is very liberal. I have never liked that part of Steve Jobs, I have never liked that philosophy in Apple, that philosophy being anything goes except what we say goes. And this is where Apple is hypocritical. If they are so against the “f” word in literature, then why do they allow explicit music? Why do they allow music that is all about raping women, all about having sex with as many women as possible, all about killing people, all about using drugs, and have more foul language in one 3 minute song than in Mr. Carnoy’s entire book?
One Word: Money. The lust for money breeds hypocrisy in many corporations, and Apple is one of those. They probably won’t make much money off Mr. Carnoy’s book, but Apple makes a killing off all the music on their online store, including all the explicit songs about sex, drugs, and violence.
I love my PowerBook, my MacBook, my 5th Gen iPod, and my iPhone 3G, but the shiny Apple is getting dull in its philosophy. It really is time for Mr. Jobs to step down from Apple. Apple will run fine without him. If not for Steve’s return, Apple may have died, but now those glory days for Steve are gone. He needs to concentrate on his health, not the direction of Apple. And Apple needs to concentrate on selling great products, not philosophy, and not liberalism.

Real History of the Palestinians
In light of the frenzied worldwide anti-Semitism going on, I feel the need to bring this post from May, 2008 to the top.
1948; the year that an Israeli state was formed and the United Nations granted Israel its right to be a nation. Before Israel officially became a sanctioned and recognized state, a truck bomb was detonated by Islamic Jihadists killing fifty-four people and wounding hundreds on February 22, 1948. The anti-Semitic and anti-Israel Muslims had started their war against Israel and began spinning their lies, the lies that still exist today; that the attacks on Israel are retaliation for Israel occupying the Palestinian’s territory, the West Bank and Gaza. At the moment of the 1948 truck bombing, and at the time Israel became an independent nation, they did not own that area at all.
If the intent of Islam is to defame Israel as well as destroy it, then the Arab world has had more success at the former than the latter. Their propaganda has worked well in the Arab world as well as in the western media and the European media. As the story goes, the Palestinians were displaced by the Israelis during the 1948 war when Israel fought against the Arabs. The reality is the Arabs displaced the Palestinians out of their homes and towns as they prepared their attack on Israel.
Thinking that they could finally destroy the Israelis with the Palestinians out of the way, the Arabs attacked Israel. Israel responded and successfully drove the Arabs out of the area and took over the land once occupied by the Palestinians. Now the Arabs were stuck with the Palestinian refugees, a problem they created themselves. Working with the United Nations, the Arabs set up temporary refugee camps for the displaced Palestinians and left them there. The Arab nations that started the war against Israel left the Palestinians and refused to assimilate the refugees into their own society.
Nineteen years later, in 1967, the Arab nations once again decided to band together against Israel and start another war. Again, the Arabs were defeated. This time Israel conquered even more land and gained control of Jerusalem. The Arabs found themselves stuck once again with the Palestinian refugees from another war that they started.
Yet again in the 1970s, this time with Yasser Arafat and the PLO wreaking havoc for Israel with their terrorist attacks and catching the Palestinians in the middle. The PLO and the Arabs found a new propaganda machine that to this day has remained effective in casting a shadow over Israel and their alleged mistreatment of the Palestinian people. The PLO stockpiled weapons among the Palestinians and fired rockets from areas containing civilians. When ever Israeli defended its self against these attacks by returning fire, inevitably, innocent Palestinian civilians were wounded and killed. The PLO propaganda worked in the PLO’s favor as they would shout to the world about what the evil Israelis did.
With the advent of instant news circling the entire globe the PLO was able to deceive the new and growing mainstream media with deceptive lies about how the Israelis were killing and mistreating the Palestinian people. The Muslim world jumped on the media frenzied bandwagon and made sure that the media from around the world only reported what Islam wanted reported; that Israel was an evil country that needed to be wiped off the face of the planet for their inhumanity towards the Palestinians.
Now it is 2008, forty-one years since the 1967 war and sixty years after Israel became a nation. The same lies and same cowardly attacks continue on Israel from Gaza and the West Bank. Islam continues to hide behind the Palestinian casualties that they themselves cause by terrorizing Israel while using the Palestinian civilians as a shield.
During this time the Muslim world has never offered the Palestinian people safety or sanctuary. They have never offered them alternative areas to live in. They have never given them food, shelter, or money, nor have they offered to assimilate the Palestinians into any of their societies. In truth, the Muslims of the world do not want the Palestinians. Quite literally, the Arab world is more than happy to use the Palestinians as cannon fodder to further their agenda to destroy Israel and to further use as propaganda with which to deceive the world. While the former is not working so well, the latter is as more and more people around the world believe the campaign of lies against Israel.
As Lenin once said, If you tell a lie long enough, it becomes truth. The real truth has been told above, that the Muslim-Arab world has started every war and conflict with Israel, has used the Palestinians to deceive the world, and have turned much of the world against Israel and Jews everywhere. The longest and most effective propaganda tool ever used has fooled too many for far too long, even here in the United States of America, and even among the most educated and brilliant people in the world. All this from the most illiterate people in the world.
